Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Pactners mobile application and website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Pactners Is

Pactners is a two-person accountability app. You pair with one partner, set a shared weekly goal and an optional stake, and log photo proof when you complete your goal. The stake is an informal agreement between you and your partner — Pactners does not enforce, collect, or arbitrate stakes, and stakes must never involve anything unlawful.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

• You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the Service.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your credentials secure.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• One active pact per account: you may be paired with one partner at a time.

3. Subscriptions and Free Trial

• Pactners offers a free trial for new users. After the trial ends, an auto-renewing subscription is required to log new proof. Your dashboard remains viewable without a subscription.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the price shown at purchase.
• You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings at any time. Canceling stops future renewals; it does not refund the current period.
• Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policies; we cannot issue App Store refunds directly.

4. Your Content

You retain ownership of the photos, notes, and other content you submit ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, and display Your Content solely to operate the Service — for example, showing your proof photos to your paired partner. We do not use Your Content for advertising and do not make it public.

You agree that Your Content will not:

• violate any law or the rights of others;
• contain sexually explicit, violent, hateful, or harassing material;
• include personal information of others without their consent;
• contain malware or attempt to compromise the Service.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms. Because Pactners is private between two partners, your partner can see what you log — be someone worth pairing with.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• use the Service for any unlawful purpose;
• attempt to access another user's account or data;
• reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service or its security measures;
• resell or commercially exploit the Service without our permission.

6. Partner Interactions

Pactners connects you with a partner you choose. You are responsible for your interactions with your partner, including any stake you agree to. We are not a party to your pact and have no obligation to mediate disputes between partners. Features like nudges are intended for friendly accountability — do not use them to harass anyone.

7. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from within the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon account deletion, your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-interruption. Pactners is a motivation tool, not professional advice — consult a qualified professional before starting any fitness, health, or other program where that matters.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

10. Apple App Store Terms

If you downloaded Pactners from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us, not Apple; that Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app; and that Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with the right to enforce them. Your use of the app must also comply with Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

11. Changes to the Service or Terms

We may modify the Service or these Terms over time. If we make material changes to the Terms, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of your country or state of residence to the extent required by applicable consumer law, and otherwise by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
